A Conceptual Review of Artificial Intelligence Adoption in Modern Information Systems

Abstract

The rapid advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has significantly influenced the development and utilization of modern information systems across various sectors. AI technologies such as machine learning, natural language processing, and intelligent automation have transformed how organizations collect, process, and analyze information to support decision-making and operational efficiency. This study aims to provide a conceptual review of AI adoption in modern information systems by examining key concepts, benefits, challenges, and implementation perspectives discussed in existing literature. The method employed in this study is a qualitative literature review, focusing on academic journals, books, and reputable digital publications related to artificial intelligence and information systems. The findings indicate that AI adoption offers substantial advantages, including improved system performance, enhanced data-driven decision-making, and increased organizational competitiveness. However, challenges such as ethical concerns, data quality issues, system integration complexity, and the need for skilled human resources remain critical barriers. This conceptual review is expected to contribute to a deeper understanding of AI adoption in information systems and provide a theoretical foundation for future empirical research and practical implementation strategies.
